The streets and porches of West Philadelphia were filled with music this weekend.
The seventh edition of West Philly Porchfest took place on a breezy Saturday afternoon this past weekend, filling the sidewalks with music lovers and houses with an array of sounds from noon to 6 p.m. and beyond. During our rounds in the neighborhood, we journeyed from 42nd and Spruce to 55th and Christian and back, seeing hip-hop / soul (Sterling Duns), emo (Lowercoaster), samba-reggae percussion (Batala Philly), indie rock (Caring Less, Black Opal) and more.
The scope of the performances spanned from a tightly curated and promoted lineup with Rachel Andie, Ryan Gilfillian and more, as well as impromptu moments like singer-songwriter AllegrA shredding to a drum machine in front of a 45th Street garage. As day turned to night, attendees gravitated towards after parties, including a throwdown at Pentridge Station with The Bul Bey, Interminable and more.
